Concrete City
LOCATED: Nanicoke, PA
Hidden in the woods near Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Concrete City was a bold experiment in early 20th-century worker housing—twenty stark, uniform homes cast entirely in concrete. Once imagined as a modern, self-contained community, plans for parks and pools crumbled when the cold, unwelcoming structures proved unlivable. Abandoned since the 1920s, its skeletal remains now stand like a forgotten blueprint of industrial ambition and architectural extremes.
